For 45 years, SERF has been developing in-depth industrial knowledge and scientific expertise in orthopaedic implants for hips, knees and extremities.
1973 – 1975
SERF (Société d’Etudes, de Recherches et de Fabrication) was founded by Mr André Rambert, whose main line of business was the manufacture and the commercialization of hip and knee prostheses.
In 1975, Mr Rambert and Professor Gilles Bousquet (an orthopaedic surgeon at Saint-Etienne University Hospital, France) pioneered the innovative concept of Dual Mobility which is now recognised and adopted throughout the world.
1991 – 1998
SERF branched out into designing and producing dental implants.
2008 – 2009
In 2008, the MENIX Group was created, led by Patrick Rondot, with the purchase of DEDIENNE SANTE from the DEDIENNE group. The MENIX Group is a French holding company which includes leading brands in orthopaedics, dental implants and craniomaxillofacial surgery.
In 2009, SERF joined the MENIX Group.
2012 – 2013
In June 2012, the MENIX Group acquired dental implant specialist TEKKA, which later became GLOBAL D, the group’s dental subsidiary. In 2013, SERF’s dental activity was transferred to GLOBAL D, enabling it to focus solely on manufacturing and selling orthopaedic implants for hips and knees.
2014
In 2014, SERF Extremity was created, a SERF subsidiary distributing orthopaedic implants for the foot.
2015
In 2015, OneOrtho Médical, a specialist in digital orthopaedic solutions, joined the MENIX Group.
2019
The MENIX Group continued to grow its export business by creating an Italian subsidiary SERF Italy.
